The Simplex 4003-9302 (4003EC series) is an emergency voice control unit designed to add voice and tone alerting to non‑voice fire alarm control systems. Housed in a painted cabinet (often beige or red), it integrates an onboard Class‑D amplifier capable of supporting up to 40 W (70.7 VRMS) audio output. Users can store up to eight separate digitally recorded messages in EPROM, selected via DIP switch or triggered remotely from a fire alarm controller. The unit supports up to 18 supervised remote microphones plus an internal push‑to‑talk mic and allows live paging, pre‑recorded message playback, and override from central command. Tone options include evacuation patterns (temporal horn, bell, fast whoop, slow whoop, wail, chime) and message‑pair control with selectable pre‑ and post‑tones. It includes one general alarm Class B audio NAC circuit with expansion to multiple Class B or Class A NACs via splitter modules. The panel includes battery charger support for internal or external batteries, removable terminal blocks for easy wiring, and secure access through a keyed door lock. Designed for retrofit or new conventional installations, multiple 4003EC units can be networked for campus‑wide announcements.
