The Magnasphere MSS‑88SL‑G is a surface‑mount magnetic contact sensor designed for security and access control applications. It employs Magnasphere’s proprietary Ball Magnet Switch (BMS) technology, making it far more resistant to failure modes common in reed switch designs, such as contact sticking, welding, or being defeated by external magnets. The unit is constructed for robust performance in door and window monitoring, typically mounted on flat surfaces where an aligned magnet is positioned nearby. It operates as a normally closed (NC) SPST contact with wire leads.
